MA Programs
We offer three main MA tracks, each tailored for different academic and professional goals. Please open the description of each degree for more information:
- MA in East Asian Studies (EAS)
- Note: most students pursue the MA in East Asian Studies as a stand-alone, terminal degree. Some continue on to Ph.D programs.
- Prospective students who are also interested in business or public affairs may wish to combine our MA in East Asian Studies with Master’s degrees from two other internationally-renowned professional schools on campus:
- MA in East Asian Studies + MBA/Master of Business Administration (dual degree with the Kelley School of Business)
- MA in East Asian Studies + MPA/Master of Public Affairs (dual degree with the O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs)
- MA in Chinese or Japanese
- Note: this track is more specialized relative to the more general MA in East Asian studies and has higher language requirements. Most of your coursework will focus specifically on China/Chinese language or Japan/Japanese language.
- MA in Language Pedagogy (Chinese, Japanese, or Korean)
- Note: this track is primarily for students who wish to become language instructors.
