Anwei Yu (余安維) is a Ph.D. student in Chinese Linguistics at Indiana University Bloomington. He grew up in a multilingual household speaking Taishanese, Cantonese and English, and he learned Mandarin and Japanese in school. His research interests include the cognitive processing of Mandarin in native speakers and learners, in addition to corpus linguistics, contrastive analysis and error analysis.
Before joining IU, Anwei earned an M.A. in Chinese as a Second Language from Taiwan Normal University, where he conducted research on second language grammar acquisition. He completed his B.A. in International Relations, Chinese and Japanese at the University of California, Davis.
Anwei also has several years of experience teaching Chinese, English and Japanese to non-native speakers in the U.S., Mainland China and Taiwan. He is committed to fostering mutual understanding and empathy through the study and teaching of languages. In his free time, he enjoys reading e-books and playing collection games.
