Minshan is a Ph.D. student in East Asian Languages and Cultures. She received her M.A. in EALC from the University of Pennsylvania and B.A. in EAS from the University of Toronto. Her research focuses on premodern Chinese literature and literati culture during the middle period. She is particularly drawn to topics related to literati travel and displacement, and the literary representations of emotions in Tang-Song Chinese travel writings of various genres. She also has a keen interest in Chinese philosophy, religion, the history of emotions across different cultures, and literature from other periods and regions, such as twentieth-century China and Japan.
